Intelligent Lighting

STEINEL

Intelligent lighting controls provide energy savings by switching lights off when they are not required. The fixtures monitor the environment within a room and can detect presence, motion or lux levels. By monitoring and matching lighting demand, energy consumption can be precisely controlled. This means maximum energy efficiency in providing light. Intelligent lighting controls are ideally suited to commercial and industrial lighting environments including:

  • Office rooms and complexes
  • Hotels
  • Public buildings
  • Educational facilities and conference rooms
  • Stairwells and corridors
  • Washrooms and bathrooms
  • Factory sites and outdoor facilities
  • Data centres

LED lighting is perfectly matched to this technology having near instantaneous on times, and no degradation from repeated switching cycles unlike traditional fluorescent and sodium lighting technologies.

Intelligent controls

We offer the complete range of STEINEL lighting control products from this leading German manufacturer. STEINEL, who invented the PIR sensor in 1987, have since developed the most comprehensive range of intelligent motion and presence sensor technologies available. A range for every situation from new buildings to refurbishment projects the STEINEL Professional range has a product to match every requirement.

Intelligent surveys

Operating independently of the mains power supply, STEINEL PROLog unit is a measuring instrument that is positioned extremely easily and unobtrusively below the ceiling at various important points in a building. It records approximately 400,000 measurement readings of actual usage and lighting over a period of 4 weeks. The data is then uploaded and are then entered in coded form into our PROLog software.

The software generates a report detailing:

  • How long daylight was sufficient for the required light level
  • How people actually used the area
  • How many hours artificial light was used
  • How many hours artificial light was switched on for when there was no requirement for it

With the report actual and ideal values are documented. All measured rooms, storeys, corridors, stairwells, offices etc. can be stored and planned in the software. Using further data, such as the power consumption of lighting, energy tariffs, service tariffs, lamp life etc., it is possible to provide a projection of total savings over one, three or ten years. Together with RELUX, lighting can be precisely planned to deliver the optimal and most energy efficient lighting solution.
