Linden Homes Orpington

New solar PV installation for Linden Homes

Linden Homes is a highly respected builder of new homes and properties throughout the UK and it is part of the Galliford Try Group.

For Linden Homes' latest residential development in Orpington Kent the provision of sustainable energy generation on each property was a key part of the scheme gaining planning approval. Solar photovoltaic (PV) was selected for this new development giving each new home its own source of renewable energy.

Elite Renewables are a Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) approved installer of solar PV and were chosen by Linden Homes to design and install a solar PV array on each property. Working closely with the main contractor, the installations were rolled out, taking 2 days to complete the installation and commissioning on each house as sections of the development were made available.

Each new home owner will be able to benefit from the government Feed-in-tariff (FiT) incentive on the energy generated from their solar PV system over the 25 year duration of the scheme.

The design for each home was a 6 panel 1.44 kWp system which is predicted to generate 544 kWh/year of electricity which can either be used by the home owner or exported back to the grid.

Key facts

  • New housing development of circa 100 homes
  • 6 Panel 1.44 kWp array deployed on roof of each property
  • Energy yield of 554 kWh/yr from each array
  • Benefit from FiT scheme to home owner
  • FiT duration of 25 years
